Participatory Monitoring and Evaluation Practices in Nepal: Critical Discourses

Abstract

Participatory monitoring and evaluation (PM&E) is a key tool for ensuring the effectiveness and sustainability of development programs and projects. This article provides a critical review of PM&E practices in Nepal, discussing the history, different types, challenges, opportunities, and recommendations for improving PM&E practices in the country. Arguing that PM&E has the potential to be a powerful tool for improving development programs and projects in Nepal, this article examines a number of challenges to implement PM&E effectively before it concludes that building capacity, raising awareness, and increasing resources are vital to support PM&E in Nepal.
